The Modbus RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) protocol is used in serial communication and is the most common implementation of this standard. It uses a compact, binary data representation for protocol communication. The RTU format follows commands/data with a cyclic redundancy checksum (CRC) as an error checking mechanism to ensure data integrity.
Netronix wall-mounted readers and RFID modules equipped with an RS485 and/or RS232 serial interface have implemented support for the Modbus RTU protocol, supporting installers in configuring devices using a generally accepted communication standard in the industry.
