Israeli company Pointer Telocation has been producing devices and communication modules for the Mobile Resource Management (MRM) application since its inception in 1991, including Cello-IQ 30/40/50 series GPS / GLONASS locator gates designed for AVL vehicle fleet tracking applications. Gateways Cello-IQ by connecting to the GPS / GNSS application server through the GSM network (GPRS / EDGE / HSPA), thanks to, among others, the built-in accelerometer can send a wide range of data, including vehicle position, acceleration, braking (including sudden stop in the event of an accident), speed and data collected via, among others RS232 or 1-Wire interfaces, such as temperature, fuel level and consumption, revolutions, load, as well as tachograph data as well as such information regarding vehicle safety as e.g. opening doors and covers, closing and opening the vehicle by remote control or starting the vehicle alarm system.
On the other hand, thanks to the 1-Wire interface support, Pointer Telocation Cello-IQ 30/40/50 GPS gateways can cooperate with Netronix PLA RFID readers, supporting additional functionality related to driver identification, which can be done via RFID cards and transponders working in MIFARE® standards Classic (13.65MHz) or Unique / HITAG2 (125kHz).
This is extremely important information for every fleet system manager in medium and large enterprises, enabling cost optimization and control of fuel expenses, inspections, staff costs and many more. Driver identification allows for automatic assignment of employees to the vehicle in use, and thanks to RFID technology we can collect data such as:
- working time of drivers - e.g. traders,
- time of using a given vehicle, divided into business and private work time,
- number of kilometers driven per driver,
- and additionally, RFID is a protection against unauthorized use of the vehicle - without a suitable tablet or proximity card, the ignition will not be unlocked.
